The Project "Sensitivity of mountain permafrost to climate change" (SPCC) funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), including five closely interlaced projects, was initiated to increase the understanding of the mountain permafrost system.

The SPCC-project aims at bridging the gap between climate simulations, spatio-temporal surface and subsurface characteristics and the response of landforms to these changes. With the combination of different field and modeling techniques an integral system understanding is promoted to assess the sensitivity of mountain permafrost dynamics to atmospheric forcing.
